Famous comedian, writer, and reporter Mo Rocca has always been fascinated by obituaries published in the newspaper. Like his father, Mo enjoyed reading about the amazing lives that people live, from famous people like politicians and celebrities, to scientists and pillars of the community. Even more, though, Rocca appreciated the lives of "normal" people, those who lived and loved and made their communities better but were never recognized except by those closest to them. In the process, Rocca realized that there are many lives that are not properly acknowledged as having been important, and he decided to rectify that through his podcast, Mobituaries.
In this companion book to the podcast, Rocca describes the lives of people you may have not heard of, or people who may be famous for one thing but really accomplished so much more in their lives. He retells the stories of their accomplishments, and what they actually mean for today's society. Along the way, Rocca examines the death of dragons, of the station wagons, of countries, and of trees.
Fans of biographies and of history will love reading Rocca's lyrical words and learn more about people you thought you knew, but really didn't. And, in his way, Rocca restores a sense of accomplishment and wonder at lives well lived.
