William Shakespeare’s Star Wars

Doescher, Ian. William Shakespeare’s Star Wars. 2013. 174p. ISBN 978-1-59474-637-6. FIC DOE on the library shelves.

In a galaxy far, far away, a small rebellion was trying to overthrow the Empire. Unlike the movie version, however, this retelling is done in the style of Shakespeare, using vocabulary from the 1500s and employing iambic pentameter throughout.

The familiar story of a small town boy defying the odds to take on the powerful Lord Vader makes the Bard’s way of writing a story accessible to anyone. George Lucas himself was inspired by Shakespeare’s tales, from the villainous to the virtuous, and Doescher reconnects the two in this hilariously told story.

Fans of Star Wars, or those who are interested in reading Shakespeare will love this take on a well known story.
